The Last Days of Pompeii, a novel written by Edward Bulwer-Lytton (1803-1873) tells the story of the destruction of Pompeii by the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.  It was inspired by the Russian painter Karl Bryullov's historical painting 'The Last Day of Pompeii' which Bulwer-Lytton had seen in Milan.

The book is in good condition other than some chips out of the top of the spine which is visible in the pictures.  This is the second 'author's edition' published in 1850 by Hooper, Clarke & Company New York, Chicago.  No indication as to when this book was printed.

If you want to get lost in a good historical drama, this book is for you.
