Beautifully framed in gold gilt, this Victorian oil on board country scene features a bridge over a small river in what appears to be the English countryside. There is a large tree to the left side of the bridge and birds fly in a flock, seemingly content. The sky although blue, is filled with white fluffy clouds lending darkness to the valley below.
There is an old worn label on the back of the frame from 'Matthews Bros. & Co.' from Toronto. Some of it has worn off.
The frame measures approximately 29" Wide by 22" High and is in excellent condition aside from the top right corner which has some damage to it. Please refer to pictures for details. The painting itself shows darkness from age but is in otherwise very good condition.
